# Fake Google Review From a Competitor

A fake Google review from a competitor is one a rival posts, or asks someone to post, to pull customers away from you. Google treats it as a conflict of interest, so it can come down when the evidence shows the link. You pay only if the review is removed.

## Signs a rival may be behind it

No single sign proves who wrote a review. Together, they show Google it isn't a real customer's experience.

- The reviewer's public profile links to a competing business or to someone who works there.
- The review describes a service you don't offer or a visit your records don't show.
- It appears right after a dispute with a rival, such as a lost bid or a supplier change.

## The Google rule it breaks

Google's review policy doesn't allow content based on a conflict of interest, and it names industry competitors as an example. It also bans posts on a competitor's listing meant to undermine it.

So a conflict of interest review is not judged on how unfair it feels. Google looks for the connection between the reviewer and the business they compete with.

## Evidence that helps

- A dated screenshot of the review and of the reviewer's profile.
- Your booking, invoice or customer records for the period the review describes.
- Public pages that tie the profile to the competitor, such as a team page or social post.

Don't accuse the competitor by name in a public reply or contact them about it.

## How we handle it

1. **Free audit.** We check the review and the profile against Google's policy and tell you if the evidence is too thin.
2. **Policy-based report.** When you report a conflict of interest Google review, the request should name the rule and show the link. We prepare it with your evidence. Timing depends on each platform's own review process; we tell you what to expect in your audit.
3. **Next step if it stays.** Google makes the final call. If it keeps the review, we tell you whether an appeal or a short, neutral reply makes more sense.

## How we handle every review

- **You pay only if the review is removed.** If the review stays up, you owe nothing for that review.
- **The platform makes the final call.** Google and every other platform decide what comes down under their own rules. We prepare the strongest request those rules allow, and no one can promise a removal.
- **Legitimate routes only.** Policy reports, appeals, legal requests when a review may be unlawful, and a public response when a review has to stay. No fake accounts, no mass flagging and no fake reviews.

## Questions about reviews from rivals

### Do I need to prove the competitor wrote it?

Not with a confession. Google needs a clear link between the reviewer and the competing business, or signs that the review doesn't reflect a real experience.

### Do I pay anything if Google keeps the review?

No. You pay only if the review is removed, and the audit that tells you whether there is a case is free.
