# Ex-Employee Left a Bad Google Review?

If an ex-employee left a bad Google review about your business, Google's policy may allow it to come down. Content based on current or former employment is a conflict of interest under Google's rules. We check the review, build the report, and you pay only if it is removed.

## Signs the review comes from former staff

- It describes schedules, pay or managers, things only an insider would know.
- It appeared soon after someone left on bad terms.
- The reviewer's name or photo matches a former team member.

An ex-employee leaving bad reviews under more than one name is also worth noting: Google doesn't allow one person to post from several accounts.

## When Google's rules apply

Google's review policy lists current or former employment as a conflict of interest. A disgruntled employee Google review falls under that rule when it grows out of the job rather than a visit as a customer.

If it also threatens staff or shares their private details, other rules apply as well. If the review is about working for you and sits on an employer site, [Glassdoor Review Removal for Employers](https://removemyreviews.com/platforms/glassdoor-review-removal/) covers that.

## Document it calmly

- Save a dated screenshot of the review and the reviewer's profile.
- Note the dates the person worked for you, from your own records.
- Keep any messages from them about the review or about leaving.

Don't reply with details of their employment or why they left. A calm, neutral reply, or none, is safer.

If the review states false facts, the legal route is explained in [Google Review Defamation: When a False Review Goes Too Far](https://removemyreviews.com/services/defamatory-reviews/). We don't give employment or legal advice.

## How we handle it

1. **Free audit.** We read the review against Google's policy and tell you if the link to the job is too weak to report.
2. **Report with evidence.** We file the request under the conflict of interest rule, with your records. Timing depends on each platform's own review process; we tell you what to expect in your audit.
3. **Next step if it stays.** Google makes the final call. If it keeps the review, we tell you whether an appeal or a short reply makes more sense.

## How we handle every review

- **You pay only if the review is removed.** If the review stays up, you owe nothing for that review.
- **The platform makes the final call.** Google and every other platform decide what comes down under their own rules. We prepare the strongest request those rules allow, and no one can promise a removal.
- **Legitimate routes only.** Policy reports, appeals, legal requests when a review may be unlawful, and a public response when a review has to stay. No fake accounts, no mass flagging and no fake reviews.

## Questions about reviews from former staff

### Can a former employee leave a Google review?

They can post one, but Google's policy doesn't allow content based on current or former employment, so it can be reported.

### Can I sue an ex-employee over a bad review?

That is a question for a licensed attorney. Our work is the request to Google, which doesn't depend on going to court.

### Do I pay anything if Google keeps the review?

No. You pay only if the review is removed, and the audit is free.
